Catch movies so good they made them twice

We’ve spectacular shoot-ups, swords ‘n’ sandals and a tsunami of slimy ectoplasm on our menu of star-soaked remakes.

You actually can’t have too much of a good thing. So, hats off to the bright sparks who’ve brought us second helpings of some of the most iconic films ever.

The western gets a superhero-style slant in the action-packed re(cowboy)boot of 1960 classic The Magnificent Seven, as a maverick band of gunslingers, knife-throwers and bow and arrow specialists take on a cadre of corporate bad boys.

There are plenty of bullets for your buck as Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt come out all guns blazing against the greedy mining barons bidding to drive innocent farming folk off their land.

It’s a high-spirited romp that’ll have you taking cover behind your sofa and going ‘pew, pew’ with your pistol finger!

Things get biblically epic in Ben-Hur, with cultures colliding in ancient Judea, culminating in a heart-thumping chariot race that tips its cap to a cinematic classic.

Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Tony Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Morgan Freeman (you know, Morgan Freeman!) star.

And we’re back to high spirits in Ghostbusters, as the stellar talents of Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones bring a female touch to the 80s smash hit.

Look out for cameos from the original cast, led by Bill Murray, Chris Hemsworth as a meathead receptionist and wisecracks that definitely cross the streams as the ‘busters battle New York’s plague of rampaging ghouls.
