Strictly Come Dancing will be back in autumn 2017 with its biggest and best series yet.

TV presenter Ore Orduba and Joanne Clifton triumphed in series 14 and a new batch of celebrity contestants will be hoping to claim the Glitterball Trophy this year.

But who will be stepping out on the dancefloor on the biggest TV show in Britain?

Here are all the lineup rumours for the 2017 cast:

The 'new Ed Balls'

Alex Salmond, Paul Nuttall, Nick Clegg

It's the big question on everyone's lips with this year's lineup - who will be 2017's Ed Balls? The show has a history of hoofing politcians (Ann Widdecombe, Edwina Curry) and after Ed Balls transformed public opinion on the show, we're sure plenty of politicians with time on their hands will be up for a dabble on the dancefloor.

One bookmaker has former SNP leader Alex Salmond as short as 2/1 to dazzle us with his rumba, while defeated 2017 election candidates Nick Clegg (8/1) and Paul Nuttall (16/1) also have relatively short odds.

If you fancy a real longshot, Theresa May and Lord Buckethead are 100/1 outsiders to strap on their dancing shoes.

Joe Wicks

Joe Wicks

AKA, The Body Coach, Joe Wicks is one of the hottest stars in the UK right now and the keep-fit guru would be a great coup for the BBC if they want to reach out to a younger audience with the show.

There would be no questioning Joe's stamina and fitness levels for the show, but can he boogie as well as he can shed the pounds and pump iron?

Matt Goss

Matt Goss and Aliona Vilani

It looks like it will be a busy 2017 for the 80s pop heartthrob, who will be touring with a reunited Bros in the summer. He previously appeared on a Strictly 2013 Christmas special, where he dazzled with Aliona Vilani and an American Smooth routine.

According to tabloid reports, he's the first celebrity signed on the dotted line for this year's series and he'll be an early favourite for victory thanks to his experience and musical background.

Paul Hollywood

Paul Hollywood and Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli

Every year the Bake Off star is the top of many producers' and fans' wishlists, but the baker isn't budging when it comes to strapping on some sequins and showing us his cha cha cha.

Paul is friends with Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli and they appeared together on his Big Continental Road Trip series. Apparently Bruno has tried trapping up his pal to take part, describing him as "great mover". However, the star baker insists: "It's not going to happen!"

Joan Collins

Joan Collins

The 84-year-old would be Strictly's oldest ever contestant and is a self-confessed fan of the BBC One dance show - she frequently commented on her admiration of last year's winner Ore Oduba.

However, despite the Daily Express claiming that the Dynasty was all but signed up for the series, Collins has poured cold water on the rumours on Twitter. She claimed it was 'fake news', but maybe she's just trying to throw us off the scent?

Tommy Cannon

Tommy Cannon

One half of the legendary comic double act, who entertained millions on TV in the 1980s. Cannon has previously done reality TV - appearing on I'm a Celebrity and is rumoured to have had talks about strapping on his dancing shoes.

Aged 78, he would be the show's oldest ever contestant, beating even Johnny Ball and Paul Daniels.

Paula Radcliffe

Paula Radcliffe

According to The Sun newspaper, Strictly producers are desperate to sign up the marathon runner for the dance competition. They believe her dedication, sporting drive and likeability will make her a hit with viewers.

The Olympian is fully retired and has worked with the BBC as a presenter, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they managed to tempt her on the dancefloor.

Jason Durr

Jason Durr

There have been plenty of Holby and Casualty stars on Strictly down the years - Tom Chambers even won the show - so it's no surprise to see Jason Durr linked to the show.

The 50-year-old, who plays Nurse David Hide, would be a popular contestant and recently showed off his hip-swivel action in an episode of Casualty.

Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe

The England and Sunderland striker is reaching the end of his football career and has told the Strictly producers that he's ready to take part if they give him a call.

Speaking about rumours connecting him to the show, Defoe told Lorraine: "I did an interview not too long ago and they asked me the question and I was like, yeah why not! I’ve always enjoyed dancing, I come from a West Indian background so you never know.

"So if they want me, give me a call.”

The fact he's just returned to the England squad and that there's a World Cup in 2018 might prevent him taking part this winter, but we wouldn't totally rule him out.

Scarlett Moffatt

Scarlett Moffatt

The Gogglebox and I'm a Celebrity star has apparently turned the show down in the past because she has extensive dance experience, even winning trophies as a youngster.

However, the show is always looking for more talented celebs to improve the standard of routines, so perhaps she could be persuaded to dust off her dance shoes again.

Kate Humble

Kate Humble

The popular BBC wildlife presenter has been a top target for the show for several years. The producers will probably attempt to persuade her again in 2017, but the 48-year-old claims that she would rather spend her time "being mucky".

"The more talk there was of sequins, make-up and Strictly Takes Two, the more I could feel myself pouring with sweat," she told The Mirror.

"It’s just not me and I was literally about to have a panic attack at the thought of wearing make up and dresses! My agent realised and gently put her hand on my knee as if to say ‘it’s ok, don’’t worry’.

"There are so many people who love it and get so much out of it but I will stick to animals and being mucky. I am better at that. That’s more my comfort zone."

Charlotte Hawkins

Charlotte Hawkins

There is nearly always a breakfast TV presenter on the show, so Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins would be a perfect fit for the series. She has stated an interest in starring on the show and she has the right level of profile to make her appealing to producers.

Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom

Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom

The rumour is that Gogglebox and I'm a Celeb star Scarlett Moffatt was previously offered a chance to star on Strictly, but she turned it down because she had dance training experience. Two Gogglebox stars who never shun the limelight at the boozy posh duo Steph and Dom. We're not sure they're dance skills would be up to scratch, but they'd be great entertainment value.

Mark 'The Beast' Labbett

Mark Labbett

The Chaser has just come off victory on Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief and has confirmed that he would love to take part in Strictly. The only problem? He's not sure they have anyone tall enough for him.

Jessica Ennis-Hill

Jessica Ennis-Hill

The Olympic legend has been tipped to take part in the show before, but her busy training schedule always made it highly unlikely.

After announcing her retirement from sport, it’s surely only a matter of time before she makes her move into TV. The only question is whether Jessica fancies showing off her footwork to the nation.

Samantha Womack

Samantha Womack

The former EastEnders star is a hot favourite to take part this year after departing Albert Square in a dramatic New Year exit storyline.

Will the former popstar swap the Queen Vic for the Quick step?

Rita Simmons

Rita Simmons

Sam Womack’s co-star, who also departed Enders in January is apparently another target for the BBC producers.

If they can snag both Mitchell sisters, they’ll be on to a very strong start with this year’s lineup.

Gemma Atkinson

Gemma Atkinson

The former Hollyoaks actress recently revealed that she was taking a break from Emmerdale and has spoken in the past about the fact she would like to take part in Strictly.

Tabloid reports may be putting two and two together and getting five, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see her strutting her stuff in September.

Ryan Thomas

Ryan Thomas

The ex-Corrie star was the bookies favourite to win the 2016 series for a brief period they were so confident that he was taking part.

That didn’t end up coming true, but he’s been fairly quiet since leaving the Cobbles so we wouldn’t be shocked to see Thomas in sequins very soon.

Danny-Boy Hatchard

Danny-Boy Hatchard

The EastEnders actor recently departed Albert Square and he’s shown his dancing skills on a couple of Comic Relief specials. Were they just a warm-up for Strictly?

Olly Murs

Olly Murs

The former X Factor host performed on the opening Strictly last year, rubbing salt into Simon Cowell’s ratings wounds.

He claimed that the producers tried to sign him up for the show there and then. The dad-dancing popstar could get revenge on Cowell dropping him as presenter if he did agree to take part.

Ellie Simmonds

Ellie Simmonds

The Paralympic swimmer was linked to the show by a tabloid report, which claimed that Simmonds was the producers’ “number one target”.

She was spotted at the Strictly live shows last year so she’s evidently a fan, but whether that means she would want to take part, remains to be seen.

Carley Stenson

Carley Stenson

The former Hollyoaks actress has been on the Strictly journey twice before. She’s supported her boyfriends Ricky Whittle and Danny Mac on the show – whop both ended up finishing second in their respective series. Perhaps she wants to take part herself this time and go one better.
