Oti Mabuse burst on to the Strictly dancefloor in 2015 and reached the final the following year with her dance partner, Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac.

Who is Oti Mabuse?

South African-born Oti has been dancing since she was a child. The 26-year-old studied Civil Engineering at university, but has made a career out of her passion – dancing. In fact, Oti’s mother set up a dance school in Pretoria, South Africa, so Oti and her sisters – as well as other children – could learn to dance.

Oti has gone on to achieve many titles in her dancing career, including World European Latin semi-finalist and World Cup Championship semi-finalist. Indeed, Latin dancing is her speciality – Oti is an eight-time South African Latin American Champion.

Oti joined Strictly in 2015 after having previously been a dancer on the German version of the show – called Let’s Dance - where she was partnered with Daniel Küblböck, a German pop singer.

She is known for her complex, dynamic choreography – and blamed herself when she and Danny ended up in the semi-final dance-off last year: “Because it’s your creation and it’s your job to make them look good, you take it on," she told the Huffington Post

“We were in the dance off before the final and I remember apologising to him saying: ‘I’m so sorry I didn’t do a good enough job to get you to that final.’”

Favourite dance: The samba.

Best-ever finish: Oti was runner-up in last year’s Strictly with her partner, actor Danny Mac.

Worst-ever finish: Oti’s only appeared in two series on Strictly – so her worst appearance was 14th place in 2015.
