Pasha Kovalev lifted the Glitterball trophy in 2014 with his celebrity partner Caroline Flack and has been in the final a further two times – not bad for his five-year run on the show so far.
Here’s what you need to know about Pasha:
Who is Pasha Kovalev?
Siberia-born Pasha started dancing at eight years old and, like many of his co-stars, he has performed in Burn The Floor, on the US show So You Think You Can Dance, and on the Broadway stage.
Pasha was amateur until 2000, when he moved to the US with his dance partner Anya Garnis in 2001. In America Pasha competed professionally and found fame on So You Think You Can Dance.
“Being on TV was never my goal in a million years. My first priority was always learning how to dance, becoming better and just focusing on competitions and things like that. But then Anya dragged me to one of the [So You Think You Can Dance?] auditions and the rest is history,” Pasha told the Bournemouth Echo.
After touring in Burn The Floor, Pasha joined Strictly in 2011. He was runner-up in his debut year with celebrity partner Chelsee Healey and has subsequently been one of the most successful pros.
Pasha has found romance with his series 11 partner, Countdown presenter Rachel Riley.
In 2017 Pasha has been touring the UK with his show Let’s Dance The Night Away, which aims to send audiences away “supercharged with positive energy and emotion”.
Favourite dance: Pasha says: “It's so hard to pick a favourite dance because after so many years of studying and practising dancing, you can't help but fall in love with them all for different reasons.”
Best-ever finish: Pasha has reached the Strictly final three times, winning with Caroline Flack in 2014.
Worst-ever finish: 2016’s Strictly was Pasha’s worst showing, when he finished in 12th place with Naga Munchetty.
Former celebrity partners: Chelsee Healey, Kimberley Walsh, Rachel Riley, Caroline Flack, Carol Kirkwood, Naga Muchetty
