Who is Graeme Swann? Meet the Strictly Come Dancing 2018 contestant and cricketer

Will Graeme join the ranks of cricketers who've turned their footwork at the crease into ballroom dancing success?

Strictly Come Dancing is back! The BBC has revealed that Graeme Swann will be stepping out on the dancefloor this year – get to know him a little better.

Revealed as a Strictly contestant: Graeme Swann was announced as the sixth celebrity to be joining Strictly 2018 on BBC Radio 2 on Wednesday, August 15.

Age: 39

Occupation: Cricketer

Best known for: Graeme was an England cricketer until 2013, when he retired during that year’s Ashes series loss.

He played for his home county of Northamptonshire as well as Nottinghamshire during his career, and was known for his right-arm offspin bowling.

Since his retirement, Graeme has been a commentator for BBC’s Test Match Special.

He is also the lead singer of the rock covers band Dr Comfort and the Lurid Revelations.

He said: “I’m worried about waxing my chest. It gives me cold sweats just thinking about it. It takes me two days just to take a plaster off in the bath. I’ve got the lowest pain threshold ever.”
