Finding Dory

The follow-up to Disney’s runaway hit Finding Nemo sees the loveable but forgetful blue tang fish Dory (voiced by the hilarious Ellen DeGeneres) embark on an epic adventure to reunite with her long-lost parents – with the help of her friends Nemo and Marlin of course. Shocked to discover Mum and Dad are now trapped in an aquarium, will Dory successfully return them to the ocean for a family reunion?

Moana was a huge hit for Disney last year, and tells the tale of a plucky Polynesian teenage girl who is determined to save her family and people. She sets out to find the demigod Maui, before they unite and go on a quest to help Moana to become a master way-finder. Receiving rave reviews, Moana was also nominated for two Academy Awards – Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Inside Out

In Inside Out, Riley is a happy, thriving 11-year-old girl, but all this changes when she’s uprooted from her country lifestyle by a big family move to San Francisco. Guided by “Joy” (voiced by Amy Poehler) this soon transcends to “Sadness” (voiced by Phyllis Smith) as Riley finds it hard to adjust to her new surroundings. Praised for its exploration of mental health in a charming and relatable way, Inside Out is a kids movie that has an undeniably important message.

The Jungle Book

A live action remake of Disney’s 1967 The Jungle Book, this movie has proved to be a huge success at the box office, grossing almost $1 billion (around £770 million) to date. Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, is forced to leave the only life he knows after he hears the lion’s roar. With the help of a wise panther (voiced by Ben Kingsley) and a laid-back bear (voiced by Bill Murray) he sets out on a journey and meets a whole host of eccentric characters with fantastic experiences along the way.

Monsters Inc

Ever wondered where the monsters that live in your cupboard or under the bed actually come from? It’s Monsters Inc, the largest scare factory in the world! In this hilarious and heart-warming tale, Boo, a small human girl, embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure into Monsters Inc where she makes friends with a host of monsters, including James P Sullivan (voiced by John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal).

Set in Zootopia, an urban city where all the world’s animals live and thrive, Judy Hopps becomes the first rabbit to join the police and, to prove to herself she’s worthy being on the force, she takes on a complicated and mysterious case. Adventure and hilarity ensues, and with the help of A listers voicing the characters this is a raucous comedy the whole family will love. Voice actors include Ginnifer Goodwin, Shakira, Jason Bateman and Idris Elba.

Up tells the tale of Carl Fredricksen (voiced by Ed Asner), a sweet 78-year-old man and balloon salesman who ties thousands of balloons to his house in the hopes of flying to South America – but he’s shocked to discover that a little boy called Russell is a stowaway. Emphasising it’s really never too late to follow your dreams and make new friends, Up was the second animated film in history to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards and also won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.

Toy Story 3

Woody and co are back for Toy Story 3. Now their owner And, is heading off to college, it’s time for the toys to head up to the attic for safekeeping. But they’re mistakenly delivered to a daycare centre where a host of random young children play with them. Feeling abandoned and depressed, Woody must convince his crew that Andy still loves them and they need to get back to his house – somehow.

WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class) lives alone on planet Earth as the last robot. He’s been there 700 years and he’s developed a personality and feelings – and he’s now more than a little lonely. But when he suddenly sees EVE, a probe sent to Earth on a scanning mission, he decides to follow her across the galaxy in the hope of a new, more exciting life. WALL-E wasn’t just a huge commercial hit when it was released back in 2008, it also received excellent reviews, with many prestigious film reviewers even ranking it as one of the best films that year.

Big Hero 6

Voiced by Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit and Jamie Chung, Hiro (voiced by Potter) is a teenage boy whose older brother Tadashi takes him under his wing and introduces him to the robotics lab at his university. Here he’s created a plus-size inflatable robot called Baymax that’s designed to help people. They’re then shocked to discover that someone has been copying Tadashi’s ideas and they all work together to stop the culprit. Charming and unique, Big Hero 6 won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
