From the tubby loveable Andy Dwyer of Parks and Recreation to ripped hero Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt has evolved into one of the most charming and highly paid actors in the world.
Still not convinced? Here’s 7 reasons why we absolutely love Chris Pratt:
1. He’s one modest dude
He’s known throughout Hollywood for being one of the most modest and down-to-earth actors. He even shared a picture on Facebook from his teen years when he lived a hippy lifestyle from a van in Maui, Hawaii.
He joked to Ellen that since he quit his waiter gig in Maui and pursued acting he’s living his best life. He said “On a scale of 1 to 10, I kind of hit 10 when I stopped having to serve people food. So I’ve been riding 10 ever since.”
2. He’s far from vain
Chris may be widely regarded as one of the hottest men in the world, but he’s far from vain. In fact, he piled on the pounds for his Parks and Recreation role and had to lose a whopping 60lb for Guardians of the Galaxy. He even admitted to Men’s Health that when he was overweight he “was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”
3. He’s a funny guy
Of course, one of the Chris’s most admired attributes is his fantastic sense of humour and natural aptitude for comedic acting. In addition to Parks and Recreation he’s starred in comedies The Lego Movie, Delivery Man, What’s Your Number?, Take me Home Tonight and The Five-Year Engagement. He’s also hosted Saturday Night Live and created various digital skits, pretty much all of which have gone viral. Handsome, talented and funny - what’s not to love about this man?!
4. He has a heart of gold
And it gets even better because he’s also a pretty nice guy. Chris is known for his generous charity work, including visiting sick children in a Los Angeles hospital – while in his Guardians of the Galaxy Star Lord costume no less.
He also made a joint $1 million charity donation with wife Anna Faris to a children’s charity that provides eyeglasses to underprivileged children. This was inspired by their own son’s medical needs: Jack was born nine weeks premature and is visually impaired.
5. He’s a former stripper
While working as a waiter in Hawaii, Chris also attempted to make big bucks as a stripper. However, his get-rich-quick-scheme didn’t go to plan. He told Philip Schofield on This Morning that he only made around $40 a night working at private parties and even failed to get a regular gig when he auditioned at a strip club.
6. He’s psychic?!
It looks like ‘The Secret’ worked for Chris Pratt as in 2010 he joked in a behind-the-scenes video of Parks and Recreation that he just got a text message from Steven Spielberg about a role in Jurassic Park 4.
Just five years later he starred in Jurassic World, the reboot that made an incredible $1.6 billion at the box office and catapulted Chris into one of the most bankable Hollywood stars around.
7. He’s a great father
While he recently announced that he was separating from his wife, actor and comedian Anna Faris, after eight years of marriage, they do have a 5-year-old son, Jack.
We only have to look at Chris’s quotes on being dad to see what a great father he is. For example, on the press tour for the first Guardians of the Galaxy he told a journalist that the best day of his life was: “After I wrapped Guardians of the Galaxy. I was very homesick and coming home to my wife, and to my son, who at the time was 13 months old.
“My wife told me there’s a chance he won’t recognise you and he may be a little shy, and so I came in there, and he just sat right up and had this big smile on his face. He started saying ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy!’ and I started to cry. He saw the tears in my eyes and started doing bits to make me laugh and that just made me cry more.”
