AMC is the home of thrilling and critically acclaimed new US dramas such as Fear the Walking Dead and Rectify.

It is also the US studio behind the smash-hit dramas Mad Men and Breaking Bad and UK TV fans can watch these iconic shows from the beginning.

AMC, the drama channel exclusive to BT customers, is available on BT TV 332 (381 HD).

Here are five classic shows from the golden age of television that you can currently watch on AMC:

1. Mad Men

Mad Men

Slicker than a crisp Saville Row suit and cooler than an ice bucket challenge in the Arctic Circle, Mad Men has seven series of unbeatable period drama.

Jon Hamm, January Jones, John Slattery and Christina Hendricks were among the cast who turned this show about an ad agency in 1960s New York into a global phenomenon and in the process moved the goal posts on the quality we expect from our TV shows.

Mad Men is airing on AMC on Sundays at 9pm.

2. The Shield

The Shield

Running for seven critically acclaimed seasons, The Shield is regarded by many TV critics to be one of the greatest (if not the greatest) cop drama of all time.

Influenced by the real-life LAPD Rampart Division scandal, the show follows the corruption and darkness of an elite Strike Team that sees them taking on criminals, internal investigators and their own colleagues.

Starring Michael Chiklis and Walton Goggins, the show is considered hugely influential in launching the golden age of television.

The Shield is currently airing on Wednesdays at 10pm AMC.

3. Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad

This critically acclaimed, Emmy-winning series raised the bar for TV drama to a new level with its story of Walter White, a chemistry teacher turned drug dealer, and his former student Jesse Pinkman.

Bryan Cranston and Arron Paul are phenomenal as Walt and Jesse in this dark and layered series, which captured the imagination of viewers around the world.

Is it the greatest TV drama of all time? We’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Breaking Bad airs on AMC on Wednesdays at 9pm.

4. Weeds

This deliciously dark comedy drama picked up two Emmys, a Golden Globe and a hatful of other awards during its eight series.

Starring Mary-Louise Parker delivering an incredible performance as a widow of two boys who takes up selling marijuana to support her family, the show twists and turns down a dark path as the show progresses, but we won’t spoil any of the killer twists for you.

AMC airs Weeds double bills on Saturdays.

5. Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy

Prepare to shed some tears as AMC is revisiting Seattle Grace Hospital from the very beginning.

Classic episodes of the groundbreaking medical drama are airing every weeknight.

This is the perfect chance to meet Meredith, Cristina, Izzie, George and Alex for the first time or to catch up with them again to relive the drama, tragedy and sizzling romances.

Grey’s Anatomy is showing from the very beginning on weeknights on AMC.
