Starring Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Colman Domingo and Alycia Debnam-Carey, the apocalyptic drama follows the early days of the world falling apart after a mysterious virus causes a zombie outbreak.

The mix of thrilling, edge-of-your-seat action and family drama made this show one of the biggest US TV hits of 2015.

It will return for its third series in 2017.

2. The Terror

Ridley Scott is the executive producer of this anthology series based on the Dan Simmons novel of the same name.

The 10-episode drama is set in 1847, when a Royal Naval expedition crew that are searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator - what begins is a suspenseful and desperate game of survival.

AMC has promised the show will be a “distinctive combination of science fiction and historical non-fiction” and it looks likely to be one of the TV events of 2017.

The Terror will air on AMC in 2017.
