Every once in a while a TV show comes along and rewrites the rulebook. Grey’s Anatomy was one such show, as its compelling characters and dynamic dialogue formed an indelible impression on the collective consciousness.
But don’t worry if you missed the action at Seattle’s sauciest hospital, as BT TV’s exclusive AMC channel is airing every episode. So here’s five reasons to set your planners to record these perfect practitioners…
Friends till the end
With the show following the journey of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) from invisible interns to crucial clinicians, we see their friendships being forged through eternal trials, tribulations and many, many physician flirtations.
They love a hook up at Seattle Grace Hospital, with the steamy sessions happening everywhere from the bedroom to the break room and all those post-coitus complications drive the drama to new heights.
Grey’s knew what made a great TV hunk, with a veritable feast of eye candy on offer at all times. Of particular note are Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), but heading up the hospital’s most handsome supporting cast is Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) – the philandering plastic surgeon.
Chief among the on-staff stunners is Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), the capable head of neurosurgery and object of Meredith’s desires. This ultimate Prince Charming also possesses a realistic darker side that adds just the right amount of bad boy charm. Will he find true love with Meredith? Or will his past prevent him?
The leading lady of the show, Meredith is far from your average TV heroine. Instead, she develops naturally across the show’s run from a scared and slightly somber intern into a competent doctor and confident woman.
This story arc was the reason many of us stayed glued to the show, leaving us to think of Meredith as more of a lifelong friend than a character.
Grey’s Anatomy, weeknights at 8pm on AMC - exclusive to BT customers channel 332.
