Chris Pratt: 5 facts you probably don’t know about the Jurassic World actor

Jurassic World arrives on BT Store this week, so we are celebrating the genius of the magnificent and hilarious leading man Chris Pratt.

Chris Pratt first appeared on our radar earlier this year when we were blown away by his turn as Owen in Jurassic World.

Now, as the smash-hit blockbuster movie – and the original trilogy – arrive on BT Store, we bring you five little-known facts about our new favourite actor.

The Jurassic Park Collection, including the new movie, original trilogy and 10 minutes of bonus footage, is also available now on BT Store.

1. His big break came at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co
Chris wasn’t actually trying to become an actor when he landed his big break. After moving to Hawaii with a friend, he started working at aq Bubba Gump’s restaurant. One day, he served a woman called Rae Dawn Chong – a director who gave him a role in her directorial debut Cursed Part Three. It was a terrible film, but afterwards Chris decided to stay in Hollywood and try to make it as an actor.

2. He also worked in a bingo hall and hotels before becoming an actor
Before he was discovered serving shrimp, Chris also worked as a car cleaner, mural painter, a room service waiter and behind the snack bar at a bingo hall.

3.  He was only ever meant to be a guest star in Parks and Recreation
After roles in Everwood and The OC, Chris won his first big role in hit US sitcom Parks and Recreation. However, his character of Andy was only ever meant to appear in the first season. However, as co-creator Greg Daniels explained: “He was not supposed to be a series regular. But we just thought he was fantastic so we hired him.” The comedy, starring Amy Poehler and Rob Lowe, has gone on to win a Golden Globe and be nominated for several Emmys.

4. He and his wife Anna Farris bonded over a strange hobby
Chris has been married to fellow actress Anna Farris since 2009, and the pair welcomed their son Jack in 2012. After meeting on the set of film Take Me Home Tonight, they both discovered that they shared a rather odd hobby. They both collected dead insects. “I was like, ‘I’ve met the man of my dreams,’” explained Farris in a recent interview. “We both have dead bug collections!”

5. He will always go the extra mile to get into character
Over the past few years, Chris has constantly dropped and then gained about seventy pounds to get himself in (and out!) of shape for various roles. From being incredibly toned in Guardians of the Galaxy to going back to playing more cuddly Andy in Parks and Recreation, he has undergone countless transformations. Meanwhile, for his role in Moneyball, he learnt how to play baseball left handed and even went to baseball training camps with ex-professional platers.
