Raven Symoné became a global star when she was only 17 years old, playing Raven Baxter, a gifted teenager with psychic powers, in the smash hit 2003 Disney Channel series That's So Raven.
A decade on from the final episode of That's So Raven, Symoné returned to Disney Channel in 2017 for a reboot – Raven’s Home.
Bringing back Raven Baxter for a whole new generation, the classic character is now all grown up, divorced and living with her kids and best buddy Chelsea.
The new series proved an instant hit and series 2 is currently airing on weekdays at 5pm on Disney Channel - BT TV channel 480.
BT TV caught up with the show’s star to ask her the burning questions that every fan wants answered.
1. What was the response like to season 1 of Raven's Home?
Having the response we’ve had to Raven's Home and seeing all the people come back to see what Raven Baxter is doing has been such a joy.
2. Were you nervous returning to the character that made you a star?
It's always nerve-wracking starting any new series - fingers crossed people like it - but we just went in there to make a TV show that people could enjoy whether they had watched That's So Raven or not. To see all the love and affection for the character has been heart-warming.
3. You're now the grown-up on set. Do you have to behave?
It's funny, even when I was on That's So Raven, I behaved myself. There's an etiquette that you’re supposed to have on stage that I learned at a very young age. If you're playing too much, you can't get a show done and there's a schedule.
I'm having the same amount of fun on Raven’s Home as I did on That's So Raven because it's that nice balance of fun and professionalism that gets the work done – and hopefully the kids are learning.
4. What is your favourite episode in season 2?
Season 2 is an amalgamation of topics that kids are dealing with today, awkward topics that are just fun. We have an episode - a spin on Stranger Things - which is my favourite. That was so much fun.
5. What important messages come out of season 2?
An episode I really like is called 'Because'. Often kids ask parents for a reason for doing something and they just say, 'Because'. You're supposed to just accept it, chalk it up and listen as a kid. And we see that journey of Booker having to accept the 'because' answer, challenge his mum and then she realises that it isn't a good enough answer. She realises that she has to explain certain things. I like what we're doing with explaining relationship dynamics in families.
6. What one piece of advice would you give to child actors?
The one piece of advice that I would give is that you have to stay professional. It’s the equivalent of a 9 to 5 and you have to come in prepared to work. You can have fun, yes, but let’s not lollygag, let’s do our job first. The more you do your job, stay on your Ps and Qs, the more fun you’ll have.
7. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I wish I could turn anything into gold.
