Which of these characters gave you the chills growing up?

Everyone has a movie or TV show that truly gives them the heebie-jeebies.

The 2017 film will give nightmares to a whole new generation of youngsters and Bill Skarsgård’s haunting performance made It one of the must-watch movies of the year.

It is available to buy in the BT TV Store from January 1st and available to rent from January 15th.

To celebrate the film’s release, we’ve looked back at some of the most terrifying movie characters of all time... don't have nightmares!

Pennywise – It

Tim Curry’s performance in the 1990 adaptation was unforgettable and Bill Skarsgård’s 2017 update takes the chills to a new level.

The original idea from Stephen King was to come up with a character based around something that scared children more than anything else in the world… clowns.

Pennywise prayed on our deepest fears and we’ll never look down a drain, ever, ever, again.

It is available to buy on the BT TV Store on January 1st and rent from January 15th.

Alien - Alien

Alien is a film that gets a lot of its chills from suspense and silence. However, it wouldn’t have been a smash hit phenomenon if the big reveal wasn’t absolutely horrifying.

The blood-chilling creation is a terrifying vision of dark, evil that stopped us ever wanting to grow up and be astronauts.

The Alien 6 film collection is available to buy in the BT TV Store now.

Pinhead – Hellraiser

Hellraiser put us off solving puzzles forever, and the sick Pinhead – leader of the Cenobites – was an unforgettable villain.
From his painful facial piercings to his S&M black leather outfits, the demonic character had some particularly brutal and bloody methods for taking out his victims. *shudders*.

Hellraiser is available to buy in the BT TV Store now.

Jigsaw – Saw

The man behind some of the most gruesome and violent deaths ever seen in cinemas, the villain and mastermind at the centre of the Saw films might not induce nightmares, but he turns your stomach.

A totally different type of villain, it’s the mystery and backstory of Jigsaw that has helped turn the Saw franchise into a phenomenon.

The Saw movies are available to buy in the BT TV Store now.

Norman Bates – Psycho

Responsible for ruining the small motel business and making us jump whenever a shower curtain moves, Alfred Hitchcock’s chilling killer is one of the most iconic movie characters of time.

There have been several attempts to recreate the magic of the original movie, but none quite captured the madness of the cross-dressing, unsettling original Norman.

Psycho is available to buy in the BT TV Store now.

Hannibal Lector – Silence of the Lambs

“I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner.”

Anthony Hopkins portrayal of the killer cannibal is one the greatest movie performances of all time, but that didn’t make it any less terrifying. Anyone fancy some fava beans and a nice chianti?

Silence of the Lambs is available to buy in the BT TV Store now.

Freddy Krueger – Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddie Kreuger

Has any movie character caused more nightmares than Robert Englund’s razor-gloved, facially disfigured serial killer?

The original concept from Wes Craven’s original Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984 was that Freddy could capture you in the dream world and it would kill you in the real world. Nobody can stay awake forever – although we’re sure plenty of people had sleepless nights after watching this film.

Nightmare on Elm Street is available to buy in the BT TV Store now.
