The smash hit sequel to Disney’s Descendants will premiere in the UK this autumn on the Disney Channel.

The first movie was the story of the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains. Granted permission to leave the Isle of Lost, where there parents have been banished, the badly-behaved teens got a shock when they arrived on the idyllic Auradon.

Descendants 2 continues the themes of the original and is movie for the whole family. Itr conveys a powerful message of self-discovery, being true to yourself, choosing good over evil. The story deepens in the music-driven sequel, as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most infamous villains - Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay try to find their place in idyllic Auradon.
On its US premiere (July 21st), a staggering 26 million viewers tuned in to watch Descendants 2, besting the high bar set by the original movie broadcast in 2015.
The Descendants 2 soundtrack shot up to number album on iTunes in less than three days, and its six singles hit the Top 10 Soundtrack Songs less than 24 hours after the movie’s premiere. They include ‘It’s Goin’ Down,’ ‘What’s My Name,’ and ‘Chillin’ Like a Villain.’ Descendants 2 videos on DisneyMusicVevo have garnered over 259 million views, including over 76 million views for the official ‘Ways to be Wicked’ video.
When does the sequel air in the UK?
Descendants 2 premieres on October 20th at 5.30pm on Disney Channel (BT TV Channel 480 for BT TV Kids customers).
Are all the old characters back from the first film?
Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie), Cameron Boyce (Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Jessie), Booboo Stewart (X-Men Days of Future Past), Sofia Carson (Adventures in Babysitting) and Mitchell Hope are all back in their starring roles as Mal, Carlos, Jay, Evie and King Ben.
Who are the new cast members?
China Anne McClain (A.N.T. Farm) join the cast as Uma, the daughter of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. British superstar Thomas Doherty (The Lodge) joins the pirate crew as Harry, son of Captain Hook and Dylan Playfair (Some Assembly Required) joins the cast as Gil, son of Gaston.
What is the plot for the sequel?
The story picks up where Descendants left off with the Villain Kids (VKs) Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay living in Auradon. Most of the VKs have settled into their new life in the idyllic kingdom with the exception of Mal, who is struggling to emulate what she thinks is expected of her as the soon-to-be Lady of the Court alongside King Ben. When the pressure to fit in becomes too overwhelming, Mal flees Auradon and returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where she is met with her archenemy, the newly proclaimed queen of the town, Uma and her pirate gang.
When an unexpected turn of events puts Ben and the VKs back in Isle of the Lost, they learn about Uma's true intentions – to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon unleashing all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all. As the story unfolds, the VKs and the Pirate Gang face off in a climatic and action-driven battle in the name of what they feel is rightfully true.
A rich story full of adventure and heart, Descendants 2 is filled with resounding themes about being true to yourself, friendship, female empowerment, discover your individuality, teamwork and being confident in your own skin, among others.

It showcases a broad range of music including the opening number Ways to Be Wicked, a high-energy pop rock anthem; What's My Name, a hip-hop heavy beat track; The Space Between, a power ballad; It's Going Down, a toe-tapping catchy contemporary tune; and the high-energy finale anthem, You and Me.
