From a new Stars Wars story to Tom Hanks new acclaimed drama, BT TV Store has the biggest and best new movies available to buy and rent in April.

A team of young heroes’ band together to hide the Death Star – which is the Empire’s most deadliest of weapons. An epic adventure follows, with several beloved Star Wars characters making cameos along the way –*no spoilers*.

This prequel has been praised for staying true to Star Wars mythology while still creating a unique style and tone of its own. Of course a must for any Star Wars fan, this also film introduces a whole new generation to the ultimate movie franchise phenomenon

2. Why Him? - Available to buy on BT TV Store on April 20th and rent on May 1st.

Why Him? is a raucous comedy about every father’s worst nightmare – his daughter dating a schmuck. When Dad Ned (Bryan Cranston) meets daughter Stephanie’s (Zoey Deutch) boyfriend Laird (James Franco), he’s shocked to find that despite him being a Silicon Valley billionaire, he’s covered in tattoos, swears like a sailor and worst of all – intends to propose to Stephanie imminently.

However, when Laird learns that his potential father-in-law’s printing business is facing financial ruin, he comes up with a cunning plan to erase his debts. Can Ned learn to love and accept Laird? Expect many hilariously cringe-worthy moments with this romantic comedy. 

3. Sully: Miracle on the Hudson - Available to buy on BT TV Store now and rent on April 17th.

Acting legend Tom Hanks stars as real-life hero pilot Captain Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger, who safely emergency landed a commercial plane containing 155 passengers on the Hudson River in New York in 2009.

Despite Captain Sully’s newfound hero status, he faces an investigation by The National Transportation Safety Board that could threaten his career and legacy. Moving and engrossing thanks to Hanks acting prowess and Clint Eastwood’s directing expertise, Sully: Miracle on the Hudson is an intelligent crowd pleaser that’s very much worth a watch.

4. Passengers - Available to buy on April 21st on BT TV Store and rent on May 8th.

Starring two of today’s hottest stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, Passengers is one of the most hotly awaited sci-fi films of recent years. The film tells the story of two colonists, who awake 90 years early from an induced hibernation on a spaceship destined for a new planet.

As Jim (Pratt) and Aurora (Lawrence) try to figure out why they woke up early, they realise the ship is seriously malfunctioning. This risks the lives of not only themselves but also the thousands of additional still hibernating passengers. Fighting to save the ship from destruction, this film has been praised for its beautiful cinematography, charismatic leading stars and incredible special effects.

5. Assassin's Creed - Available to buy on April 28th on BT TV Store and rent on May 15th.

Assassin’s Creed is based on the ridiculously popular video game franchise of the same name. Starring major names such as Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons, Assassin’s Creed is set in the same universe as the games but features an entirely original story.

When prisoner Callum (Fassbender) is rescued from an American prison death sentence by a Spanish foundation, he discovers that he is a direct descendent of the Knights Templar and that he has special powers to tap into the memories of his ancestor. He then sets on a mission to find the “Apple” which contains the genetic code of free will. Essential viewing for fans of the video game, this is also a great watch for anyone that enjoys fantasy-action genre.
