Oscar-winning movies and blockbuster hits are among the fantastic new films available in BT TV Store to buy and rent in June.

Here are our five BT TV Store must-watch films for the coming month.

John Wick 2 – Available to buy on BT TV Store on June 9 and rent from June 12

Box office hit John Wick 2 sees Hollywood veteran heartthrob Keanu Reeves in hard-man form. Following on from 2014’s John Wick, John Wick 2 returns to the original’s neo-noir territory. In the aftermath of Wick’s mission in the first movie, he is visited by a former Italian gangster associate who calls upon him with an old unfulfilled favour.

To pay off his debt, Wick is forced to head to Rome to carry out one final hit. Worse, Wick soon discovers that a bounty has also been put out on him, and he must now use his hitman skills to save his own skin. The film’s cast is rounded out by such familiar faces as Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane.

Logan – Available to buy on BT TV Store on June 24 and rent from July 10

X-Men spin-off Logan was a massive box office success in the US. Starring Hugh Jackman in his final appearance as Wolverine – the X-Men character he first played 17 years ago, Logan is set in a dystopian future in which no new mutants are born.

An ageing Logan – once known as Wolverine – is eking out an existence caring for Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) who is losing control of his telepathic abilities due to illness. When Logan is commissioned to escort 11-year-old Laura to a facility called Eden, he embarks on a road-trip that will change his life – and the world – forever.

Critically acclaimed, Logan is more than just a superhero movie, taking in themes of mortality and the meaning of life as well as the gritty action typical of the X Men movies.

Fifty Shades Darker - Available to buy on BT TV Store on June 12 and rent from June 26

Five BT TV Store must-watch films for the coming month

The hotly anticipated follow-up to Fifty Shades of Grey sees Christian and Ana apart. The lovers from the first movie have separated, with Ana trying to move on with her life.

With Christian hot on her trail, plus the appearance of a mystery stalker, Ana must decide whether pursuing a relationship with Christian is worth it or whether her life would be better off without him.

Hidden Figures – Available to buy on BT TV Store on June 19 and rent from July 3

Oscar-nominated biopic Hidden Figures tells the fascinating, little-known story of some of the real-life African-American female mathematicians whose complex calculations helped Nasa send men into space. Known as ‘human computers’, these women were a fundamental part of the Space Race, whose story hasn’t really been told – until now.

Katherine Johnson (Taraji P Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) are the women who played a fundamental part in getting astronaut John Glenn into orbit in this fascinating, inspirational drama.

Moonlight – Available to buy on BT TV Store on June 12 and rent from June 19

Moonlight won Best Picture at this year’s Oscars ceremony – after a certain amount of chaos when Warren Beatty initially announced the wrong name.  A complex coming-of-age drama, Moonlight tells the story of Chiron in three stages of his life – childhood, teenage years and adulthood. Taking in themes of drug abuse, sexual identity and family dynamics, Moonlight is both harrowing and heart-warming.

A film of firsts, Moonlight saw Mahershala Ali become the first Muslim to win an acting Oscar and Joi McMillon the first black woman to be nominated for an editing Oscar. It was also the first film with an all-black cast to win the Best Picture Oscar.
