A thriller about robots vs. humans in a dystopian future to the much awaited Guardians of the Galaxy sequel are among the new releases on BT TV Store this month.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - Available to buy on August 21st on BT TV Store and rent from September 4th

After fighting off evil in 2014’s megahit Guardians of the Galaxy, the unlikely band of misfits have been hired by a powerful alien race to help protect their batteries from enemy invaders. However, when Rocket steals the batteries, the Guardians find themselves as the enemies. Will they escape in time and keep their team together? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was another smash hit and earned great reviews to boot.

2. Smurfs: The Lost Village - Available to buy now on BT TV Store and rent from August 14

The blue crew is back for another Smurf-tastic adventure. This time they set off on a trail through the Forbidden Forest using a magical map, and stumble across a hidden Smurf village that’s under threat from the villain wizard Gargamel. Can they help their newfound Smurf friends before it’s too late? This fun, family-friendly movie is voiced by some huge stars including Demi Lovato, Rainn Wilson, Michelle Rodriguez, Meghan Trainor and Julia Roberts.

3. Ghost in the Shell - Available to buy now from BT TV Store and rent from August 7

Scarlett Johansson leads this science fiction action film set in a futuristic world where the lines between humankind and robots are rapidly merging into one. Scarlett plays Major, the first human to be cyber-enhanced to be the perfect soldier. Told that she was saved from a horrible accident and turned into a super-soldier, Major is shocked to discover that this is a massive lie and that her identity has been stolen. Visually stunning, Ghost in the Shell is based on the cult manga series written and illustrated by Masamune.

4. Their Finest - Available to buy on BT TV Store from August 14 and rent from August 21

Christopher Nolan’s visually stunning Dunkirk has won praise from critics and filmgoers alike since it opened in July, but Their Finest takes an altogether different view of the 1940 evacuation. This comedy tells the story of a team from Ministry of Information as they create a promotional film about the events.

Starring Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy and Richard E. Grant, Their Finest is a must-see for any British cinema fan. It also received excellent reviews, including an 87% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

5. Viceroy's House - Available to buy on BT TV Store now and rent from August 14

Set in 1947, Viceroy’s House tells the real-life story of Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Queen’s cousin and the last Viceroy of India. Tasked with overseeing the radical transition from British rule to an independent nation, he is met with resistance from both sides.

Chronicling one of the most key events in the last days of the British Empire, Viceroy’s House manages to weave humour into an understandably serious subject. Lord Mountbatten is played by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville alongside Gillian Anderson, Manish Dayal and Michael Gambon.
