Clay realised he was treading on dangerous ground in the first season as he discovered secrets about Hannah’s life through a series of tape recordings that she had left behind. In the new season he is set to discover more revelations through some polaroid photographs.

Hannah – Katherine Langford

Although the series is focused on what happens after Hannah’s death, we got to know her through the tapes she had left for Clay, and flashbacks about her life.

Hannah will be back again and actress Katherine Langford told W magazine: “The Hannah that we saw in season one, we were able to tell her story fully and she didn’t really come back in the same capacity as the same Hannah. It’s a different Hannah that you see in season two.”

Jessica – Alisha Boe

Alisha Boe’s Jessica became one of the main characters of series one when it was revealed that she had been raped by Bryce at a party while she was unconscious.

Jessica is about to return to her school in season two to face her friends and enemies – including Bryce himself, and his girlfriend Chloe.

Hannah had witnessed Jessica being assaulted by Bryce, and was later raped by him too at another party. When the school failed to take her allegations seriously, Hannah took her own life.

Bryce will be back for season two, still not showing any signs of guilt over his devastating effect on two girls’ lives.

Other returning cast

Brandon Flynn will rejoin the cast as Jessica’s former boyfriend Justin, and Christian Navarro will also be back as Clay’s friend Tony who helped him unravel the mystery of Hannah’s death.

Miles Heizer returns as Jessica’s ex-boyfriend Alex, Ross Butler is in the cast again as Justin and Bryce’s friend Zach, and gossip-spreader Courtney, played by Michele Selene Ang, has also signed up for another season.

New characters for series 2

Jackie – Kelli O’Hara

Anti-bullying campaigner Jackie joins the adult cast of the new series, helping Hannah’s bereaved mother Olivia to navigate the courts system.

Kelli O’Hara has appeared in Sex and the City 2, and is known for her Broadway work.

Chloe – Anne Winters

Also joining the cast is Anne Winters as high school It Girl Chloe, a cheerleader and girlfriend of the evil Bryce.

Jessica will face the ordeal of confronting Chloe as well as Bryce when she returns to school.
