It looks as though BBC One has a new hit series on its hands with Age Before Beauty, a drama about a family-run beauty salon in Manchester.
The show has been penned by Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield, so we’re eagerly awaiting what she has done with this present-day, original series.
Find out all you need to know about it here.
When is Age Before Beauty on TV?
The BBC announced that filming was beginning on the programme in June 2017.
Although no official air date has been announced yet, we’re expecting to see the show hit our screens in late June or early July this year.
What is it about?
The six-part series about a Manchester hair and beauty salon may seem far removed from Debbie Horsfield’s recent work adapting Poldark, but it’s actually pretty close to an earlier hit project of hers, Cutting It.
Bel has been married to Wesley for 25 years and been a stay-at-home mum to their twins for 18 of them, but now that the kids are off to uni, she is looking to fill the void.
Her brother-in-law Teddy begs her to rescue the down-at-heel beauty salon that is their family business, staffed by some forceful relatives who need bringing into line.
But Bel is also facing problems in her marriage when a glamorous personal trainer appears to turn Wesley’s head. Can she deal with the business, her relationship and her future all at once?
Who stars in the series?
Bel is played by Mr Selfridge star Polly Walker and Him actor James Murray is her husband Wesley.
Brother-in-law Teddy is played by Robson Green, and Sue Johnston stars as her mother Ivy-Rae, a Northern Soul fanatic and spray-tan technician.
The rest of Bel’s family is made up of sisters Leanne, Tina and Heidi, played by Kelly Harrison, Lisa Riley and Vicky Myers.
Personal trainer Lorelei is played by Madeleine Mantock, who appeared in Into the Badlands.
Executive producer Sally Haynes said: "It's a tribute to Debbie Horsfield's beautifully written characters that we have attracted such a brilliant cast to Age Before Beauty."
Where was Age Before Beauty filmed?
The drama is set in Manchester and was filmed around the city.
Look out for plenty of familiar areas of Manchester, including the Northern Quarter where the family’s salon is based.
Age Before Beauty begins this summer on BBC One.
