On the menu this year is everyone’s favourite TV chef with a delicious feast, the nation’s top baking contest gets a Christmas twist, and there’ll be plenty of laughs with top comedians and funny specials.

Channel 4 may not go for the big-budget drama that some of the other broadcasters do, but for unmissable telly specials, they’ve got it sorted.

The Great Christmas Bake Off

In this double-episode special of the show that was on everyone’s lips in 2017, eight of our favourite bakers return to the tent for a new challenge.

They will take on festive baking showdowns to see who will be crowned the Star Baker, with seasonal fun including Christmas jumpers and surprise musical guests.

Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds Christmas

One of the most heartwarming documentaries of the year was Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, which introduced a group of small children to the residents of a care home with the aim of reducing social isolation in the elderly.

The young and old stars of the show are back for an emotional Christmas special to show how the project has continued to influence their lives as they prepare for a carol service.

Jamie’s Italian Christmas

If there’s one man who can guide the nation through making a sumptuous Christmas feast, it’s Jamie Oliver.

He’ll be joined by his friend and mentor Gennaro Contaldo in a log cabin deep in the mountains of Piedmont, where they’ll be rustling up Christmas classics with an Italian twist.

Turkey, porchetta, cracker ravioli, pink peppercorn negronis and chocolate orange tiramisu are all set to be served up by the culinary duo.

The Crystal Maze Christmas special

Start the Christmas fans, please – maze master Richard Ayoade is back for a special version of the challenge show.

Five intrepid celebrities will take on the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic zones with the aim of raising money for Stand Up To Cancer.

Channel 4’s favourite chat show host has a festive double header this year, with a Christmas version of Chatty Man followed later in the season by his New Year’s Eve Spectacular.

His Christmas Chatty Man guests include Noel Gallagher, Christian Slater and Lorraine Kelly, while his New Year's Eve Spectacular will welcome a studio audience to the party games and feature plenty of musiic.
