Dancing On Ice 2018 – Meet the professional ice skaters

Get to know the pros who will be putting the celebrities through their paces when ITV's Sunday night ice dance show returns in 2018.

Dancing On Ice is set to make its comeback in the New Year, and the celebrities who’ve signed up to take part have already started their skating bootcamp in preparation.

Contestants have been announced and matched with their professional partners – but just who are the skaters whipping their teammates into shape?

Brianne Delcourt

Age: 36

From: Canada

Celebrity partner: Alex Beresford

Back again is one of Dancing On Ice’s long-running stars, Brianne, who has completed five series of the show and is heading into her sixth. She won series six with Sam Attwater and has also partnered Gareth Gates, Kieron Richardson, Matt Lapinskas and Sebastien Foucan.

Melody Le Moal

Age: 30

From: France

Celebrity partner: Lemar - replacement for injured Monty Panesar

Melody is new to Dancing On Ice, but experienced in TV -  she has already appeared in Holland’s version of the show, the French programme Le Grand Cabaret, and is a stunt woman.

She also enjoys Thai boxing, belly dancing, and has circus skills as well as a skating diploma which qualifies her to coach others.

Brandee Malto

Age: 37

From: US

Celebrity partner: Antony Cotton

Californian skater Brandee has been a professional ice skater for around 10 years and has performed in hit show Disney On Ice.

Ale Izquierdo

Age: 28

From: Mexico

Celebrity partner: Max Evans

Ale’s previous skating roles have included Santa and Friends with Dancing On Ice stalwart Brianne Delcourt, and appearing in Dreamskate the Movie.

Sylvain Longchambon

Age: 37

From: France

Celebrity partner: Stephanie Waring

Sylvain is another of the programme’s returning big names. He has appeared in four series so far, partnering Jennifer Metcalfe, Heidi Range, Samia Ghadie and Jorgie Porter. Sylvain is now married to Samia, and the couple have a son, Yves, born in September 2015.

Alex Murphy

Age: 29

From: US

Celebrity partner: Kem Cetinay

Alex has been a late addition to the line-up, replacing another skater who dropped out for personal reasons. She has previously taken part in Skating with the Stars and has overcome a stroke and heart surgery five years ago to return to her career on the ice.

Vanessa Bauer

Age: 21

From: Germany

Celebrity partner: Jake Quickenden

Another pro new to the series is Vanessa, who has been working aboard one of the biggest luxury cruise ships in the world, HMS Harmony Of The Seas. She is also a dancer and acrobat, but will need to get used to swapping an endless round of sunshine ports for the cold of a UK ice rink in January.

Matt Evers

Age: 41

From: US

Celebrity partner: Candice Brown

Matt is Mr Dancing On Ice, having appeared in all nine series to date and signed up for the 10th. The skater won 2008’s competition when he was partnered with Suzanne Shaw, meaning baker Candice has big boots to fill.

Mark Hanretty

Age: 32

From: Scotland

Celebrity partner: Donna Air

Former Dancing On Ice star Mark was not in the original line-up of returning stars, but has also been drafted in last minute to replace a late drop out. He has previously partnered Nadia Sawalha, Rosemary Conley and Oona King. Mark has competed in the British Championships and now works as a coach and choreographer.

Hamish Gaman

Age: 34

From: England

Celebrity partner: Perri Shakes-Drayton

British skater Hamish retired from the competitive sport in 2015. He had won a bronze at the 2015 British Championships with his American partner, and the pair also took part in the 2015 European Championships.

Dan Whiston

Age: 41

From: England

Celebrity partner: Cheryl Baker

Another part of the furniture at Dancing On Ice, Dan has taken part in every series and is a three-time Dancing On Ice champion. He won series one with Gaynor Faye, series five with Hayley Tamaddon, and series eight with Beth Tweddle. Dan also took part in the one-off BBC series Strictly Ice Dancing.

Matej Silecky

Age: 23

From: US

Celebrity partner: Brooke Vincent

Completing the line-up of pro skaters is Matej, who is new to the series for 2018. He has competed in singles and pairs contests, and was named the 2012 US Collegiate Figure Skating Champion in the junior men category.

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV in 2018.
