What he said:
When Antony’s name was announced, he said: "I better get my skates on - I've got practising to do!"
He also added on Twitter: "So there you go. Finally I can talk about bruises, blisters and bloody boots…"
Where have you seen him before?
Antony is a familiar face to Corrie fans as one of the ITV soap’s long-serving cast members.
The actor has played Sean Tully on the cobbles since 2003, but you may also recognise him as Alexander from the 1999 series Queer As Folk.
He could be one to watch in the competition as he has previously won celebrity singing contest Soapstar Superstar, as well as Let’s Dance For Comic Relief.
What does Antony Cotton think of training so far?
Antony said: "It’s certainly been a learning curve, it’s really hard, but probably one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever done. We’ve been really lucky – people spend years and thousands of pounds in private tuition to get to the stage we’re at. It’s the most amazing training from the best of the best."
Not only is Antony training alongside his Corrie co-star Brooke Vincent, he's also been picking up tips from colleague Samia Longchambon who married her pro partner Sylvain Longchambon after taking part in the show.
He said: "Samia was the one that persuaded me to do it. I’ve been asked before a few times and I said absolutely not, never in a million years. I rang Samia this time and she said, ‘you’ve got to do it’, and now I understand why. She said ‘it will change your life, it will be the best thing you’ve ever done’, and I genuinely didn’t believe that. Then something just clicked and it all fell into place."
Although Antony is a close friend of formidable judge Jason Gardiner, he isn't expecting any special treatment: "Jason will be tougher on me than anyone else. I know the real Jason and I know the job he has to do on TV. He’ll be cruel to me and I’m really sadistically looking forward to him saying something spectacularly vile about me because I will find it hilarious. He’s my mate and I find him funny. If he’s going to throw shade, I’m going to throw a shade grenade – a shanade."
Dancing On Ice returns to ITV on January 7, 2018.
