TalkSport commentator Sam Matterface may be on safe ground when it comes to talking about football but he rose to a whole new challenge this weekend as he took up his new position as part of the Dancing on Ice presentation team.
The 39-year-old replaced horse racing reporter Matt Chapman, who left the ITV show after just one episode of the 2018 series - so who is the man who follows in the skate tracks of Tony Gubba and Simon Reed on the rinkside mic?
Chelsea fan Sam Matterface was educated at Coopers School in Chislehurst and began his broadcasting career in hospital radio, and worked for BBC Radio Kent and Capital Gold before spending seven years with Portsmouth station The Quay 107.4, being shortlisted for Commercial Radio Presenter of the Year in 2006, the year before he moved to Sky Sports News in 2007.
It was there that he met his former wife, television presenter Natalie Sawyer - the couple have a son, Sawyer, but divorced in 2014.
He has been TalkSport's Chief Football commentator since 2010, commentating on Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, European Championship and World Cup finals.
Since 2011 he has been a regular part of ITV Sport's commentary team, covering events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup.
