Love Island’s Niall Aslam has walked out of Love Island 2018 for "personal reasons".
The islander, who has been an early favourite with viewers, will not be returning to the show later in the series.
In a statement, ITV said: “For personal reasons unfortunately he can’t continue or come back to the Villa.”
The channel has not revealed any further details.
Niall’s exit has rocked his co-stars, including his current partner on the show, Georgia Steel.
“Obviously I was coupled up with him so obviously I came closer to him than most people in here but it wasn’t just that,” Georgia told the Beach Hut. “He was actually my friend, my buddy.”
Dr Alex George added: “I’m obviously sad that Niall’s left the Villa. We got on really, really well. He’s such a great guy. And I look forward to catching up with him and having some fun with him outside.”
Speaking before he entererd the Villa, Niall said that he wasn’t entering the show for fame and fortune.
"I am looking for love mainly. Obviously I’m looking for a fit girl but I’m assuming pretty much all of the girls in there are going to be fit and above my level anyway. I’m going in there with an open mind to find love,” he said.
Niall’s exit means there are currently an even number of girls and boys in the Villa.
The Coventry contestant’s exit aired on Tuesday night (June 12th). In emotional scenes, the Islanders praised their friend and shouted: "Love you Niall!"
The episode also featured a blazing row between Adam and Rosie and the battle for Megan’s affections between Alex and Eyal.
What is the real reason for Niall's exit?
Close friends of the islander remain in the dark about the reasons for his exit.
One friend told The Sun: "We just found out when it came on the press.
"We are as shocked as everyone else is. It's a shame as he was doing really well and taking the show by storm.
"He is really popular as he's a lovely boy.”
Another source said: "We don't know what's gone on and we haven’t spoken to him so we’re in the dark."
Love Island airs on ITV2 every night at 9pm.
