Where is Trauma filmed?
The cast filmed the series in summer 2017 in Camberley, Surrey.
Local press reports spotted the crews shooting on the council estate, the Old Dean.
Other locations used in the area included the back of Cordwalles Junior School in Berkshire Road and the Old Dean’s shopping precinct.
What is Trauma?
The John Simm and Adrian Lester drama is a three-part psychological thriller, which centres on the lives of two father. Dan and Jon’s lives collide when Dan’s 15-year-old son Alex is stabbed and tragically dies in the trauma department attended by high-achieving consultant Jon Allerton.
Devastated, heartbroken and pushed to the edge, Dan believes Jon is responsible for Alex’s death. As he strives for what he believes is justice, Dan begins to unpick the very fabric of Jon's life as his own unravels in the wake of Alex’s killing. Trauma is an intricate, fast-paced thriller that questions what makes a man good and explores what happens when the very institutions established to protect us and those who represent them, let us down.
Were there any challenges to filming the series?
Executive producer Catherine Oldfield said: “Filming in London is always very difficult. We’re lucky in a way because it’s a short job and we haven’t got that many locations. Logistically in London, there’s nowhere for Unit Bases to set up and when you do find them, they’re an extortionate cost per day.
"That’s been the biggest challenge. How did you go about finding the locations on this shoot and how challenging was it to make sure that they were right for the story in showing these two different worlds? We always knew it had to feel real. In actual reality, where we’ve shot things, we’ve had to do clever things with the camera because crews are so big. We filmed in a huge mansion for Jon’s house but we didn’t want it to look like Jon lived in a mansion; it was simply to accommodate such a large crew. Mike had very clear thoughts about the worlds where these two guys come from. So we talked to him a lot before our location team went out. The hardest thing to find was the atrium of the hospital. We were looking everywhere except in hospitals because we thought we would never be allowed to get into a hospital but in the end, we did film in a hospital. Most hospitals can’t allow big film companies to shoot in them, but one did let us film at the weekends."
Trauma airs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week (February 12th, 13th, 14th) at 9pm.
