Age: 38

Occupation: Singer

Best known for: Brian McFadden found fame as a member of the Irish boyband Westlife, who had hits with Uptown Girl, Flying Without Wings, and World of Our Own.

He was big news in pop fan circles for his marriage to Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona, and eventually left the group to concentrate on family life with their two children, although the couple later split.

Brian also had a solo career and spent time living in Australia, where he had a long relationship with ex-Neighbours star Delta Goodrem, before moving back home to Ireland and marrying model Vogue Williams, who he also recently split with.

The singer’s TV career has included judging Australian Idol and Australia’s Got Talent, and presenting Who’s Doing the Dishes.

He’s had some useful experience before, having taken part in dance contest Stepping Out and winter sports competition The Jump.

He said: "I'm very excited. I've already been practising out the back garden on my rollerblades and my mum says I'm a one man Torvill and Dean."

Partner: Alex Murphy

Most memorable moment: This series will certainly be a memorable one for poor Alex, as Brian dropped her coming out of a lift twice.

But by far their worst fall was in the semi-final skate-off, where they both came tumbling down onto the ice, leaving the judges with no choice but to vote them out.

When he's not having near misses on the ice, Brian has kept viewers entertained with his sense of humour about his lack of skating skills.

Placed: Brian just missed out on the final by a whisker, losing out to Saara Aalto in the skate-off.

For a brief moment, it looked as though he might just have put in a good enough performance to make it to the final, but when he and Alex suffered a dramatic fall towards the end of their routine, their fate was sealed.

They placed ninth overall.
