Jennie McAlpine is swapping the cobbled streets of Corrie for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Down Under in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
Here’s a bit more about the red-haired star:
Where is Jennie McAlpine from? What is she famous for?
Jennie was born in 1984 in Manchester and has been a cast regular on Coronation Street as Fizz Brown since 2001. Prior to landing her Coronation Street role, she performed stand-up comedy routines.
She started performing comedy at just 13-years-old and was twice a runner-up in the Young Comedian of the Year competition.
Jennie was actually only meant to appear on Corrie for five episodes, but show bosses were so impressed with her comedic timing and talents that they offered her an extended contract - and the rest is Corrie history.
As any Coronation Street fan will know, Fizz is a major and beloved character who has been at the heart of some major storylines. This includes helping to save her now partner Tyrone from an abusive relationship, Hayley Cropper’s tragic death and her motherly relationship towards half-brother Chesney.
Has Jennie been in anything else?
While the majority of Jennie’s work has been on Corrie, she actually started out on the screen in Emmerdale, where she appeared in three episodes between 1999-2000 as Michelle Morley.
She’s also a regular on comedy panel and talk shows, such as Loose Women, This Morning, The Xtra Factor, 8 out of 10 Cats and Big Brother's Big Mouth.
Is Jennie married? Does she have any kids?
Jennie married her partner Chris Farr this year and they have had one son together, Albert in 2014. The two have been dating since 2004 and co-own a Manchester restaurant called Annie’s.
