The 16th series of Strictly Come Dancing will be upon us at the end of the summer, but fans still have no idea who will be taking part in the show.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks over possible contestants and the list includes pop stars, soap stars, and TV personalities. Now ITV weather presenter Lucy Verasamy has been linked to the hit BBC One Saturday night programme.
Often called the ‘sexiest weather girl’ on TV, Verasamy already wows audiences on Good Morning Britain. Adding another string to her bow, the 37-year-old is now also rumoured to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing this year. Join us as we take a closer look at the presenter’s background and achievements to date.
What has Lucy Verasamy achieved in her career?
Verasamy began her career at the Press Association’s weather centre and worked there for four years as a forecaster, writing forecasts for newspapers and scripts for radio. She then joined Sky in 2005 as a weather presenter on the Sky News breakfast show Sunrise.
In 2010, Verasamy joined the newly launched ITV Breakfast programme Daybreak, as a weather forecaster and environment correspondent. Since 2012, she has fronted the national weather forecasts for ITV.
Verasamy is also part of the ITV Racing team as a weather expert. She joined Good Morning Britain as a relief weather presenter in August last year.
Does Lucy Verasamy have a boyfriend?
Verasamy doesn’t like to discuss her private life and says she is single, but there are rumours that she is having a romance with fellow weather presenter Alex Beresford, 37.
The rumour stepped up a gear when they were photographed together at the Royal Wedding. Beresford took part in Dancing on Ice this year, but was voted off in week eight.
Verasamy recently spoke to the Daily Express about some of the comments she receives on social media about her appearance.
She said: “I get comments saying my arms are lovely and toned and others saying I look too thin, you can’t do right for doing wrong. Friends are always baffled about what people write. Sometimes I do comment back on Instagram who odd things are said.
“But if the comments are offensive in any way I’ll delete them, I have no tolerance for that. They just want a reaction out of you. I have developed quite a thick skin, which is something you have to have.”
What are the odds on Lucy Verasamy joining Strictly Come Dancing?
Joining Strictly would be the first time Verasamy has taken on a reality TV show. Previously she was 8/1 to be taking part in Strictly, but her odds have now been slashed to 3/1. On a positive note, Verasamy is a 10/1 to win the dancing contest.
