Vanessa White has confirmed that the rumours are true – she will be heading into the Australian jungle for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2017.

She’s been spotted at Brisbane airport in possibly the least surprising signing for this series as her name has been linked to the ITV contest for months now.

Find out all about the new jungle recruit ahead of the programme’s launch on Sunday November 19.

Who is Vanessa White?

Viewers tuning in to I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will recognise Vanessa as being one fifth of UK girl group The Saturdays.

Her bandmates are Mollie King, Rochelle Humes, Una Healy and Frankie Bridge and the group formed in 2007. Since then, they have released four albums and had a string of hits, including the 2012 number one single What About Us which featured Sean Paul.

Their other singles include Up, Issues, Just Can’t Get Enough, Forever Is Over and All Fired Up.

Vanessa was known for being the strongest vocalist in the group and has continued to pursue her singing career since the group announced that they were going on hiatus in 2014.

What does she think about going into the jungle?

Vanessa said: “I’d actually been thinking about going travelling and doing something on my own. I was going to go on a yoga retreat.

“But when I got asked by ITV, I suddenly realised it was such a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I had to take it up. I know everyone says this but I want to go for it.

“Of course I am looking forward to the whole experience but I am not going to lie either - I am scared of most things. I am scared of heights and bugs.

“What am I dreading most? The trials for sure, but I am also excited to see how far I can go. I am testing myself.”

What else has she done apart from being in The Saturdays?

Before she became a Saturday, Vanessa had already had plenty of experience performing.

She began training for a career on the stage by joining the Sylvia Young Theatre School at just five years old and managed to land some early roles in the West End, including a young Nala in The Lion King and one of the King’s daughters in The King and I.

In 2010, she also took part in the first series of the ITV contest Popstar to Operastar, but was the second contestant to be eliminated.

What has Vanessa been doing since The Saturdays went on a break?

The group originally told fans that they would be taking a break from 2014 until at least 2016, but a year after their expected return there is still no sign of a reunion.

Frankie made the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, Mollie is having a crack at the 2017 series, Rochelle has been trying TV presenting work, and Una has been working on solo music and judging The Voice of Ireland.

Vanessa has been trying her luck as a solo artist, too – she has released EPs Chapter One (2016) and Chapter Two (2017), as well as a number of singles.

She has also featured on tracks from other artists, including Swagger Chick with Master Shortie in 2009, and The Zoo with The Voice UK finalist Vince Kidd in 2013.
