Emmerdale's Alicya Eyo has revealed she has been touched by how much fans are rooting for Ruby Haswell and Ali Spencer to stay together.
The waitress and the factory worker - who tied the knot this week - have had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day are just trying to keep their family together.
Alicia revealed: "The most amazing comments come from 80-year-old ladies in Asda who stop me and go, 'Oh, I hope you have that baby', and, 'When are you going to get married?' They're so supportive of the relationship and they like the characters. It's been overwhelming.
"Soaps are a representation of life and they keep up with the times. It's a natural, organic process for all soaps to have gay characters in them. We're all on board with normalising gay relationships.
"That's what I really liked about [Ruby and Ali]. It was secondary that they're a lesbian couple; first of all they're just a couple trying to make a life for themselves."
And after getting married she wants Ruby and Ali to have more children.
She said: "I think she's always going to hold on to wanting a baby, so I'd like to see that explored a bit further down the line.
"I'd like to see them sort things out with Rachel (Ali's sister, who is missing with son Archie), because that's weighing down on the family at the moment.
"I'd like to see all that sorted out, and get them back to some kind of semblance of normality," Eyo concluded. "With a good bit of drama thrown in, of course!"
