Hap and Leonard, a six-part US "swamp noir" thriller, will air on AMC in March – the drama channel exclusive to BT customers.
Starring Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), James Purefoy (The Following) and Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire, The Wire), the series is based on the popular novels by Joe R Lansdale.
The show starts on AMC on March 7th at 9pm – BT TV channel 332/381 HD.
AMC is also available to Sky customers with the BT Sport pack on channel 192.
Hap and Leonard is the story of two best friends, one femme fatale, a crew of washed-up revolutionaries, a pair of murderous psycho-killers, some lost loot and the fuzz.
Hap Collins (Purefoy) is a former '60s activist who spent time in prison after refusing to be drafted to fight in Vietnam. Now in his forties and down on his luck, Hap is easily lured into helping his ex-wife Trudy (Hendricks), for whom he still holds a special torch, when she resurfaces with dreams and promises of finding lost treasure.
Leonard Pine (Williams) is an openly gay black Vietnam War vet with a very bad temper. Shunned by his family whilst growing up and now laid off from his job, Leonard happily joins his best friend Hap in the search for a life-changing haul.
Set in the late 1980s, the story of an apparently simple get-rich-quick scheme soon snowballs into bloody mayhem when Trudy’s latest ex-husband is released from prison and sets off to look for the treasure himself.
Filled with eccentric characters, Hap and Leonard is a thrill-ride with a unique Southern country twist.
Author Joe R. Lansdale published his first book in the series of novels featuring the characters Hap and Leonard in 1990.
Often dark, sometimes tongue in cheek, the novels follow the tough, wisecracking duo who get caught up in a series of unexpected and sometimes perilous adventures in 1980s East Texas.
The series begins with Savage Season (1990), followed by Mucho Mojo (1994), The Two-Bear Mambo (1995), Bad Chili (1997), Rumble Tumble (1998), Captains Outrageous (2001), Vanilla Ride (2009), Devil Red (2011) and Honky Tonk Samurai (2016). Lansdale is in the process of writing a 10th novel in the series.
Hap and Leonard will air Tuesdays at 9pm from March 7th on AMC.
