The Good Place seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix now. New episodes of season 3 will be released on Netflix at 8am each Friday.

What’s it about?

Emmy-nominated comedy starring Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstro, who arrives at the Good Place after her death. Determined to stay, she tries to become a better person. The show also stars Ted Danson as architect Michael who oversees the town of the Good Place.

The Good Place is created by Michael Schur - who co-created Golden Globe winning comedy Parks and Recreation.

What’s it about?

Initially airing on Channel 4 under the name Scrotal Recall but picked up and re-named by Netflix for series 2 onwards, Lovesick tells the story of Dylan - who has to get back in touch with every girl he has ever had sex with after finding out he has an STI.

Described as the ‘most heart-wrenching comedy of all time’, Lovesick has been praised by viewers and critics alike - boasting an impressive 91% audience approval rating on RottenTomatoes.com.

What’s it about?

Mockumentary that goes behind the microphone of Kurupt FM - the second most popular pirate radio station in West London - following the lives of MC Grindah and DJ Beats.

Why watch it?

The BBC Three show won the 2017 Bafta and Royal Television Society awards for Best Scripted Comedy - plus the the four principle actors tour nightclubs and music venues where they appear in character as Kurupt FM. They’ve even played Glastonbury!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix now. Season 5 is available to buy on Prime Video now.

What’s it about?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows the lives of an eclectic group of detectives in a New York precinct, including one slacker (Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg) who is forced to shape up when he gets a new boss - the serious and stern Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher).

Why watch it?

Catch the first few seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine before it returns for season 6 in early 2019. The show was cancelled by US network Fox after five seasons, but after uproar by fans it was picked up by NBC - the home of iconic comedies such as The Office and Parks and Recreation.

What’s it about?

Created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office follows the day-to-day lives of office employees in the Slough branch of fictitious paper company Wernham Hogg - with Gervais playing the central character, David Brent.

Why watch it?

Initially nearly cancelled due to low ratings on BBC Two, it has since become one of the most successful of all British comedy exports, and an international franchise - the US version of The Office ran for nine seasons on NBC.

What’s it about?

Originally broadcast on Channel 4 from 2003 to 2015, Peep Show follows the lives of two twenty-something roommates; Mark (David Mitchell), who has steady employment for most of the series, and Jez (Robert Webb), an unemployed would-be musician.

Why watch it?

The show became a cult comedy favourite - making household names of its two comedy actors. Plus, you get to see a young Olivia Colman before she became a major TV star.

What’s it about?

Elegant Grace (Jane Fonda) and eccentric Frankie (Lily Tomlin) are a pair of frenemies whose lives are turned upside down - and permanently intertwined - when they find out that their husbands are not just colleagues, but they’ve also been romantically involved for the last 20 years.

The Netflix Original series was co-created by Marta Kauffman - one half of the team that created Friends.

What’s it about?

In series 1, parents Ken and Lorna Thompson (Greg Davies and Helen Baxendale) are shocked when daughter Rachel marries an American hippie (Andy Samberg) and brings him home from her gap year. It's just the first in a series of surprises for the family as series 2 sees Dale, a young man from Cuckoo's past (Taylor Lautner) show up at the family’s door and throw their life into disarray again.
