From Miami, Florida, Janette worked in a bank for seven years before taking up dancing full-time. Janette’s career has seen her perform with Jennifer Lopez at the 82nd Academy Awards and work as a principal dancer in the TV series and live tour of Glee, as well as appear on the West End stage in Burn The Floor.

Janette married her Strictly co-star Aljaz Skorjanec in front of many of the show’s stars on July 15, 2017. The couple told Hello! they were most looking forward to – surprise, surprise – their first dance.

“We haven't decided what the first dance will be yet, but I think it will be something really simple, pretty and intimate," Aljaz said. "It's just going to be a lovely day dedicated to celebrating our love."

Best-ever finish: Janette finished in fifth place in series 12 with her partner, EastEnders actor Jake Wood.

Worst-ever finish: In 2016 Janette was the first couple to be eliminated with partner Melvin Odoom, although they went on to win 2016’s Strictly Christmas Special.

Current celebrity partner: Janette was partnered with Paralympic table tennis champ Will Bayley in 2019 and the pair were going from strength to strength until an unfortunate accident in week six training.

Will injured his knee and although they got a bye to week seven, they were forced to drop out of the competition as Will's knee did not recover in time.

Janette said: “Absolutely devastated that Will and I will not be able to continue dancing. We made some incredible memories that I will never forget, and I am pleased to have shared them with such an inspirational person, whom I can now call a friend for life.”

Did you know? In the past Janette and Aljaz rented Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood’s house in Camden.
