Karen joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 after first appearing on the US series So You Think You Can Dance. Since then she has been a show mainstay, going on to reach the final with Mark Wright.
Her husband may be ‘Kevin from Grimsby’, but Karen is ‘Karen from Venezuela’. Here’s what you need to know:
Who is Karen Clifton?
Originally from Venezuela, Karen moved to New York when she was eight years old. She is the United Amateur American Rhythm National Champion and Professional World Mambo Champion.
As a teen in New York, Karen attended the New York High School of Performing Arts, better known as the school from Fame, as well as the prestigious Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance.
She has also appeared in the West End sensation Burn The Floor as a principal dancer – where she met her former husband Kevin Clifton, also a Strictly pro.
Of the two, Karen was the first to join the Strictly family as a pro dancer – in 2012. Kevin followed in 2013.
The pair were professional dance partners and even toured with a show telling the story of their romance through dance, but announced prior to the 2018 series of Strictly beginning that they had split after three years of marriage.
Kevin is now dating his 2018 celebrity partner, Stacey Dooley, who he won the series with.
Best-ever finish: Karen reached the 2014 Strictly final with Mark Wright, placing fourth.
Worst-ever finish: 2016’s edition of Strictly saw Karen’s worst finish, in 13th place, when partner Will Young withdrew from the show.

Former celebrity partners: Nicky Byrne, Dave Myers, Mark Wright, Jeremy Vine, Will Young, Simon Rimmer, Charles Venn.
