Who is Ashley Roberts? Meet the Strictly Come Dancing 2018 contestant and former Pussycat Doll

With plenty of dance experience, reality TV veteran Ashley is among the favourites to win the glitter ball this year.

Strictly Come Dancing is back! The BBC has revealed that Ashley Roberts will be stepping out on the dancefloor this year – we get to know her a little better.

Revealed as a Strictly contestant: Ashley Roberts was announced as one of the contestants for Strictly 2018 during Chris Evans’ breakfast show on BBC Radio 2, on Friday, August 17.

Best known for: Ashley shot to fame as one of The Pussycat Dolls, a dance group that went on to release music and which featured Nicole Scherzinger.

Her hit singles with the group included Don’t Cha, Buttons, When I Grow Up, and Jai Ho!, before she left to pursue a solo career in 2010.

Since then, Ashley has become a huge star in the UK by taking part in reality series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Jump.

Ashley also judged two series of Dancing on Ice and spent three years co-presenting Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

With her background in The Pussycat Dolls, it's no surprise that Ashley has turned out to be the strongest performer of the series, but there has been a backlash from fans who complain that the competition is completely unfair on everyone else.

However, the judges sing her praises week after week and when Strictly visited Blackpool, Ashley scored the first full-marks 40 of the series for her Jive.

She said: “Daisy Lowe loved it, Flacky [Caroline Flack] said it was one of her favourite projects, Pixie [Lott] and Laura [Whitmore] loved it! So I’m excited to dive into my own experience.”
