Celebrity First Date Hotels: Who are the celebrities looking for love?

Four brave stars are taking their search for romance to our TV screens this autumn.

Finding The One is a tricky business for anyone, but celebrities run the added gauntlet of having to keep their budding romances private from the world.

However, four famous singles are willing to let their awkward first dates play out on screen for Celebrity First Date Hotels, in aid of the Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK fundraiser Stand Up To Cancer.

We meet the stars looking for love with the help of Fred Sirieix and his team in the Italian countryside this autumn.

Duncan James

Blue singer Duncan has been a heart throb for decades, but we’re going to see him getting ready for his first public date as an openly gay man.

It’s been a long road to being comfortable with publically discussing his sexuality for Duncan – he first defined himself as bisexual in a newspaper interview in 2009, but in 2012 came out as gay to band mate Simon Webbe.

By 2014, Duncan had announced that he identified as gay, and since this summer he’s been sharing loved-up photos of himself with boyfriend Rodrigo Reis.

Duncan also has a daughter, born in 2005, from his previous relationship with Claire Grainger.

Ulrika Jonsson

TV presenter Ulrika has been unlucky in love so far, having been through three divorces – could this be the moment she finally finds the love of her life?

Her first marriage was to cameraman John Turnbull, which lasted five years, and who she had her son Cameron with in 1994.

She had a turbulent relationship with footballer Stan Collymore, who had to make a public apology to her when he was seen being violent towards her in a Paris bar during the 1998 World Cup.

Ulrika had a daughter, Bo, with German hotel manager Marcus Kempen in 2000, but split with him soon after, and then hit the headlines in 2002 when it was revealed that then-England football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson was having an affair with her.

Next, Ulrika met her second husband, Lance Gerrard-Wright, when she was presenting a dating show called Mr Right which featured him as a bachelor looking for love. The woman he chose at the end of the show turned him down, and he ended up married to Ulrika for two years with a daughter, Martha, together in 2004.

Her third marriage to US advertising exec Brian Monet lasted from 2008 to 2019, and they have one son together, Malcolm, born in 2008.

Pete Wicks

Towie star Pete is of course known for his stormy love life – it comes with the territory of being part of the hit reality series.

His Essex encounters have included a dramatic on-off relationship with co-star Megan McKenna which was rocked by a sexting scandal, and a short-lived romance with another Towie cast member Shelby Tribble who complained that she felt like a rebound from Megan.
