Who is in the cast?

Jessica Lange plays Joan Crawford. The Oscar-winning actress has been a staple of stage and screen since the 1970s. In recent years she has been a regular on that other series created by Feud creator Ryan Murphy, American Horror Story, taking various memorable roles across the first four seasons of the hit horror anthology.

On the other side of the Feud is Bette Davis, played by Susan Sarandon. Like Lange she is an Oscar winner – for Dead Man Walking. She’s also been seen in numerous films and TV shows. And who can forget her cameo appearance as a love interest for Joey in Friends?

Why is Olivia de Havilland suing the makers of Feud: Bette and Joan?

Feud: Bette and Joan is a fictionalised retelling of real-life events. Nonetheless, almost all of the people depicted are now dead. Almost. Olivia de Havilland, the legendary Oscar-winning actress from such iconic movies as Gone With the Wind, is 101 years old and lives in Paris, France.

In Feud, de Havilland is portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones. But just a day before her 101st birthday, the real de Havilland filed a lawsuit against the makers of Feud.

“The FX series puts words in the mouth of Miss de Havilland which are inaccurate and contrary to the reputation she has built over an 80-year professional life, specifically refusing to engage in gossip mongering about other actors in order to generate media attention for herself,” de Havilland’s lawyers told the LA Times
