When is the 2017 MTV EMAs?

This year marks the 24th MTV celebration of music in Europe and the awards will be held on Sunday, November 12.

Where will it be held?

The ceremony is coming to London this year! Each ceremony takes place in a different European city and this time the event is hitting the UK capital for only the second time ever.

London’s Alexandra Palace played host to the 1996 event and it has visited four other UK cities during its history – Edinburgh in 2003, Liverpool in 2008, Belfast in 2011, and Glasgow in 2014.

The SSE Arena, Wembley is the venue that will stage the 2017 awards, so if you’re celeb spotting, you know where to camp out that weekend.

Who will host the ceremony?

She’s a megastar who made a musical comeback earlier this year and has even branched out into acting for the Fifty Shades of Grey films – that’s right, Rita Ora will helm the awards.

Rita has big plans for the night as she’ll also be debuting her new single Anywhere by performing it on stage there for the first time.

The Your Song singer said: “I’m so excited to be hosting this year’s MTV EMAs in my hometown! I still remember how much fun my first EMAs was in Frankfurt in 2012, when I performed RIP. I can’t wait to get back on the stage to host and perform. Worlds will collide on this global stage come November 12th, so get ready.”

Presenters announced for the awards categories so far include music stars James Bay, Will.i.am, and David Guetta, Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer, internet sensation Madison Beer, and singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter.

Who is performing on the night?

As well as host Rita, the show bosses have signed up a huge variety of performers to share the stage.

Stormzy will continue his hugely successful year by playing to his hometown crowd, which we’re sure will be one of the highlights of the 2017 MTV EMAs.

Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, comeback queen Kesha, former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello, and The Killers were among the first acts to be announced as this year’s performers.

Recently added to the bill were One Direction’s Liam Payne, Travis Scott, French Montana, and Clean Bandit who will bring with them a long list of guest artists including Zara Larsson, Sean Paul, Anne-Marie, and Julia Michaels.

Sounds like it’s going to be the show of the year.

Who has been nominated for awards? How can I vote?

Leading the nominations so far is Taylor Swift, who is up for six awards and could well make EMAs history if she tops Britney Spears and Lady Gagas' record one-year totals of four apiece.

Not far behind her is Shawn Mendes who has been nominated for five awards, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran who have four each.

Other UK stars shortlisted include Little Mix, Harry Styles, Zayn, Dua Lipa, host Rita Ora, and Clean Bandit – who will fight it out for the best song award with Ed Sheeran, pitting their Rockabye against his hit Shape Of You.
