Who is Jamie Laing? Meet the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 contestant and reality TV star

The class of 2019 is being revealed – find out more about one of this year’s amateur dancers.

It’s that time of year again – Strictly Come Dancing’s celebrity cast for the coming series is being announced.

Find out more about one of the Glitterball Trophy contenders, Jamie Laing.

Is Jamie Laing still taking part in Strictly? Sadly, Jamie has already left the competition, making the earliest ever exit in the show's history two days before the launch show airs.

He landed awkwardly during the group dance in the pre-recorded launch episode and ended up on crutches with a support boot, but an x-ray showed he would not be fit to take part in the live shows.

We'll still see his group dance as the episode will still have to air, but at the moment it's unclear whether his pro partner will get a new celeb, and if he'll be welcome back in another season.

Revealed as a Strictly contestant: Jamie became contestant number 11 in this year’s competition when he was announced on Loose Women on August 5.

Age: 30

Occupation: Reality TV star

Best known for: Jamie found fame as a regular cast member of posh youth reality series Made in Chelsea.

His love life, friendships, and wild nights out have been documented for the show since 2011, and he’s also taken part in a number of other TV series on the back of it including Celebrity Hunted.

Outside of his TV stardom, Jamie is a successful businessman, having set up luxury sweet brand Candy Kittens in 2012.
