Even Ant McPartlin’s jungle absence isn’t enough to put the brakes on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
The ITV contest is back, and this time Rita Simons is signed up as a contestant. But who is she - and how does she think she might annoy her jungle campmates?
Best known for: By far Rita Simons’ most recognisable role is as Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders, a part she played for 10 years.
As Roxy, she was kept busy with storylines including two marriages, three more engagements, becoming a millionaire and then losing it all, one-night stands with her sister Ronnie’s two husbands, and being a drugs mule.
She was eventually killed off alongside Ronnie (played by Samantha Womack) in 2017 when the sisters drowned in a swimming pool.
Rita’s screen dad on Albert Square was Larry Lamb, who of course appeared in I’m a Celebrity in 2016.
“Larry is like my dad and he is always advising me,” she said. “He said he couldn’t advise me more to do it as he had the best time ever.”
The actress also has a very famous real-life uncle – Lord Alan Sugar - so she’s sure to have had top advice on staying focused under pressure and dealing with difficult characters.
She said: “I do think I am an easy person to live with. But I do have really horrendous snoring, it’s not fun for other people!”
Jungle fears: “I am full of phobias.”
